The City of Clearfield is seeking individuals to fill two vacancies as members of its Planning Commission. Individuals interested in applying for the vacancies may do so by emailing a letter of interest to the Clearfield City Recorder at nancy.dean@clearfieldcity.org by no later than Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 5 p.m.

Applicants will be invited to an interview with the mayor and city council on a Tuesday evening during a scheduled work session following the close of the application period. The selected applicants will be appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the city council on a Tuesday evening at a regularly scheduled policy session thereafter.

The powers and duties of the Planning Commission are to make recommendations to the City Council on actions involving land use and planning for the future growth of the City, as well as acting in an administrative capacity regarding the enforcement of subdivision, site plan, and other land use regulations.

The Planning Commission meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Members of the Planning Commission receive a packet prior to each meeting and are expected to review the materials provided, visit sites, and come to the meetings prepared to make informed decisions on the administration of the City’s land use ordinances. They work directly with the City Planner but have no authority over City staff.

Members of the Planning Commission are volunteers, not employees of the City, who receive a small stipend for each meeting attended. They are also eligible to receive an individual membership to the Clearfield Aquatic and Fitness Center.
