FIREWORKS INFORMATION:

Following Governor Cox’s executive order, I worked closely with the North Davis Fire District to carefully evaluate wildfire conditions within our community. After reviewing the risks, we have determined that personal fireworks may continue to be used in designated areas of the city, while remaining prohibited in higher-risk locations identified on the official fireworks restriction map published by the North Davis Fire District.

I recognize the concern many residents have because of the exceptionally dry conditions throughout Utah. Public safety remains our highest priority, and this decision was made only after consulting with our fire professionals. The North Davis Fire District is confident that, with the restrictions in place and the resources available, they are prepared to respond to incidents that may occur, just as they do each year during the fireworks season.

We also considered the practical realities of implementing a citywide prohibition. A total ban would be difficult to enforce effectively with existing public safety resources and could divert police officers and firefighters from responding to other emergencies. Instead, we believe focusing our efforts on restricting fireworks in the highest risk areas, while encouraging responsible use elsewhere, provides the best balance between protecting public safety and allowing residents to celebrate the holiday.

We ask every resident to exercise good judgment, use fireworks only where they are legally permitted, have water and a shovel readily available, closely supervise children, properly dispose of spent fireworks, and immediately report any fire or unsafe conditions. By working together and acting responsibly, we can celebrate safely while protecting our community.

UPDATE: Movie in the Park has been canceled due to the weather.

We're so sorry to share this news with everyone who was looking forward to tonight's movie. Unfortunately, once the movie screen is set up, it cannot safely withstand the forecasted winds.

The good news is that we’re rescheduling the event for later this summer! We'll share the new date as soon as it's confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding. We can't wait to enjoy National Treasure in the park with you soon!

FIREWORK EXECUTIVE ORDER UPDATE: 👀

The North Davis Fire District and the cities within its service area have been in meetings throughout the day to discuss how the Governor’s executive order applies to the North Davis Fire District service area.

Here’s what has been determined so far:
1) All licensed public firework displays, including city-sponsored 4th of July celebrations, will proceed as planned.
2) There will be small areas within cities where personal firework use will be restricted due to higher fire risk. The areas will include locations along railroad tracks, trails, and other spots with dense brush and vegetation.
3) Personal firework use will be allowed in all places not identified on the restriction maps.

We’re currently working to finalize the firework restriction maps and anticipate sharing them sometime on Monday.

Our priority is keeping the community safe and providing clear guidance on personal firework use as the 4th of July gets closer. The fire district will be working around the clock to ensure you have a fun, safe holiday.
