Clearfield City is seeking individuals to fill three vacancies on its volunteer Planning Commission. Completed letters must be received by the Recorder’s Office by 11:59 p.m., Monday, January 15.
The ten-member Planning Commission (7 full-members and 3 alternates) serve as the authority on land use matters as well as a citizen advisory body, which makes recommendations to the City Council on changes to the general plan, City land use ordinance, rezones and other land use matters.
The Clearfield City Planning Commission reflects a broad range of neighborhoods, professional and community experience and perspectives, and seeks to be representative of the cultural diversity of the Clearfield City community. The Commission is seeking candidates with interest in community planning, urban design or housing development, and who are residents of the City.
Participation requires a time commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per month. Commissioners prepare for meetings by reviewing a variety of maps and technical information, and making site visits. This includes regular attendance at meetings held on the first Wednesday of each month, 7pm, at the city Hall. Time spent reviewing materials for each meeting, and attendance at City Council meetings and other pertinent meetings as required.
**NEW** Youth Planning Commissioners
Starting in 2018, one position on the Planning Commission will be reserved for a youth in their Junior or Senior year of High School. Interested youth are invited to apply. The youth planning commissioner will serve for a one-year term, and can serve as many as two terms. The youth planning commissioner will be a full, voting member of the Planning Commission, and will be expected to commit the same time to the responsibilities of the position as other planning commissioners.
