Clearfield City Victim Services Program

We can help with understanding the criminal justice system by identifying helpful community resources, filing a Protective Order (PO) or Civil Stalking Injunction (CSI) for your protection, filing for assistance from Crime Victim Reparations, etc.

Victims Advocate

A victim advocate is a professional trained to support and assist victims of crime. Our advocate offers victims information, emotional support, and help finding resources and filling out paperwork. She also works with organizations, such as criminal justice or social service agencies, to get help or information for victims.

Victim Housing Advocate

Our housing advocate works as the main contact for the Davis Area Victim Housing Assistance program, coordinating housing for victims of crimes that directly affect their housing stability in the Davis County area. They provide referrals, partner with community organizations and landlords, and develop homelessness prevention plans with their clients.

Civil Stalking Injunction

ISSUED: by the court

ENFORCED: by police

COST: no charge

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Be a victim of stalking or harassment behaviors that cause alarm and/or distress
  2. Provide the court with the following:
    • A list or journal of contact the stalker has had with the victim
    • Notarized witness statements corroborating list or journal
    • Police Report documenting stalking activity
    • Copies of letter or notes and transcripts of messages of things said

Criminal Trespass Order

ISSUED: by the property owner

ENFORCED: by police

COST: no charge

CRIMINAL CHARGE: Class B or C misdemeanor

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Check with the law enforcement agency of jurisdiction to determine if this is appropriate for your situation
  2. Some agencies have a written form they provide to the offending individual, and other agencies issue a verbal order.

WHERE TO GET ONE:
The Police agency that responded to assist you; this should be requested at the time of the incident for best results.  Note:  the order can only be rescinded by the person who requested the order be served.

Child Protective Order

ISSUED: by the court

ENFORCED: by police

COST: no charge

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. The child must be a victim of physical abuse or sexual abuse in imminent danger of being physically or sexually abused
  2. The petitioner must make a referral to Division of Child and Family Services
  3. The petitioner may be any concerned adult

Protective Order

ISSUED: by the court

REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a cohabitant:
â–ª Been married or divorced
â–ª Lived together
â–ª Have child(ren) together
â–ª Have an unborn child together
â–ª Related by blood or marriage
â–ª Resided in the same residence

Must be a victim of physical abuse:
â–ª Actual physical harm
â–ª Verbal threats of physical harm
â–ª Attempts or threats to cause physical harm

Criminal No Contact Order

ISSUED: by the court

ENFORCED: by police, Investigated by police

COST: no charge

CRIMINAL CHARGE: Punishment or sanction imposed by the Judge

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. A criminal case against the perpetrator has been filed with the court involving you as a victim
  2. The prosecutor or victim advocate must be made aware that an order is needed and why. The order will be issued at the prosecutor’s request at the first court hearing after the request.

Note: This order is only valid during the prosecution process. It expires when court jurisdiction terminates.

Restraining Order

Identity Theft or Fraud

Identity theft can be a challenging crime to investigate because of the nature of the crime and the complexity related to the jurisdiction where the crime occurred. The Clearfield Police Department has an investigator who reviews the identity theft reports and determines if the crime meets the elements defined in the Utah Code Annotated as well as the jurisdiction that should investigate the offense.

If you feel you are a victim of financial fraud you must first contact the appropriate financial institution.
