With election season just around the corner we thought we would give you a rundown of how the elections will operate this year.
The City is holding elections for Mayor and two City Council Seats. There is one candidate for Mayor and four candidates for the City Council seats. The candidates’ information can be found on the elections portion of the City website.
You must register to vote to participate in the elections. Registration can be completed online at vote.utah.gov or you can register in the office of the county clerk.
To ensure your ballot will be mailed register no later than Tuesday, October 10. Registration will continue to be available until Tuesday, October 31, however, any registrations completed after October 10 will need to vote at the City Hall Voting Center on Tuesday, November 7.
Ballots will be mailed by October 17 (21 days prior to the general election scheduled for Tuesday, November 7). You should expect to receive your ballot shortly thereafter. Ballots may be filled out and returned any time after this and must be returned in the provided envelope to ensure they will be counted.
By Mail – Once you receive your ballot it may be mailed back anytime from that point. The envelope has prepaid postage and will not require a stamp, but must be postmarked by Monday, November 6 to be counted.
Drop Box – A secure lock box will be at the Clearfield City Hall for you to walk in and return your ballot anytime during business hours. The last day to place your ballots in the drop box is Friday, November 3.
Voting Center – If you have registered late and did not receive a mail in ballot, or simply want the old fashioned experience of a polling station, you may vote on Tuesday, November 7 at Clearfield City Hall from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.
